Now that our wedding has been, I can finally reveal our venue.
When we started planning, we were throwing around a few different ideas of getting married overseas or interstate. We ended up deciding to get married in Byron Bay as it is about an hour’s drive for most of our guests. It’s also close enough to go back for weekend getaways but just far enough to feel that little bit special like we’re not around the corner from home.
Once we decided on Byron Bay, we started the search.
There was a couple of venues we liked the look of so we organised a day to look at them altogether. Our chosen venue was the first venue we looked at that day, and when we arrived we both just looked at each other and realised it had a very special feel to the property.
Our venue was The Orchard Estate in Clunes. You can check it out for yourself here. It's a 100 acre macadamia farm with a purpose built modern barn and onsite commercial kitchen. With so many beautiful spots on the property to choose from for our ceremony, and the incredibly spacious barn to host our reception, we couldn't stop thinking about The Orchard Estate while visiting other wedding venues. With breathtaking views over the Nightcap mountain range and the added bonus of being BYO, it didn't take us very long to decide it was the one!
We kept our venue a secret from our guests and all they knew was they had to meet at the pub in Byron Bay and they would be whisked away to our secret location wedding.
We chose to have our ceremony overlooking the valley and surrounding farm properties, before cocktail hour just outside the barn so guests could take in the spectacular sunset and full moon rising. We then headed inside the barn for the reception to eat some delicious food and dance the night away.
We were so lucky to have such a perfect day weather wise which was the icing on the cake! You can see our ceremony spot and full moon rising in our sneak peek photos from our photographer below. I will definitely share some more photos of the venue when we receive the rest :)
